Who doesn’t love adding tasty accoutrements to their salads, burgers, taco’s etc…

I found this tasty recipe and thought it would be fun and easy to do with the girls!

I had Sofie use her own kitchen knives to help cut the onions, and boy did she have fun… experienced cutting onions and what it does to your eyes!

When I involve the girls in making all the things, it definitely takes some time. But the memories that are being made are well worth it!

I’m hoping they will last with her, like my memories have lasted and impacted my life and how I want to do things with my kids!

This recipe that we found is thanks to Becky from Acre Homestead and this really is a tasty addition to keep on hand in your fridge! Having Sofie be able to help in the kitchen offers the opportunity to improve her motor skills and fine tune her ability to follow instruction on one task at a time.

We had so much fun working together to get this ready, and seeing Sofie taste what she had made for the first time was pretty neat.

I have used this on hamburgers and most recently a salad with chicken, tomatoes, mozzarella (pearls), lemon juice and balsamic glaze! The little girls kept coming and saying “Mama more bite…Mama salad”!

  1. It is wonderful to involve your girls – such a bonding experience. I was a little concerned about the young’en using the knives until I followed your link to the children’s knives. What a great tool for supervised cooking!
